MY ACCOUNT GOT HACKED!

Hello Microsoft Support,

I believe my Microsoft account has been compromised.

I have always signed in using my email address: ******@gmail.com

Today, when I tried to sign in, Microsoft told me that no account existed with that email address. Thinking it was an error, I accidentally created a new Microsoft account using the same email. I later realized this new account does not contain my purchases or my Minecraft account.

I believe someone may have gained access to my original Microsoft account, changed the primary alias or sign-in email, and removed my original email address from the account.

I am the legitimate owner of the account and can provide any information needed to verify my identity, including purchase history, previous passwords, Xbox gamertag, Minecraft ownership, billing information, or any other details you require.

Please help me recover my original Microsoft account and restore access to my purchases.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

The original Microsoft account that used the Gmail address is now in a very specific and difficult state:

    1. A new account was just created on that same Gmail address.
    2. The original account’s sign‑in email/primary alias was likely changed and your Gmail removed.
    3. The result is exactly what you see: Microsoft says “no account with that username,” and you only see a brand‑new empty account when you sign in.

Recovery is only possible through Microsoft’s automated account‑recovery and hacked‑account flows. Support agents and forums cannot directly restore or modify personal Microsoft accounts.

    Follow these steps in order:

    1. Use the official hacked/compromised account guide
Go through the steps in How to recover a hacked or compromised Microsoft account. This is the official path when someone has changed aliases or security info:
    2. Submit the Microsoft account recovery form for the original account
Because the sign‑in email was probably changed, you must prove ownership using the recovery form, not normal sign‑in.
      • Use the “Start”/Sign‑in Helper link: Open the Sign-in Helper for support options or hacked account issues
      • When prompted, enter the original account details (the old sign‑in ID and any aliases you remember), not the new empty account.
      • Fill in as much accurate information as possible: previous passwords, Xbox gamertag, purchase history, billing details, and any other data you remember. The more precise and consistent the answers, the better the chance of success.
Important points from similar hacked‑account cases in the context:
      • The recovery process is fully automated. Even if you contact Support, they cannot bypass or override the result of the recovery form.
      • If the attacker changed the email/aliases and/or security info (phone, alternate email, Authenticator), and the recovery form fails, the account is generally no longer recoverable.
    3. Watch for the recovery result and retry if needed
      • Check the inbox (and spam/junk) of the contact email you specified in the recovery form for Microsoft’s decision.
      • If the request is denied, you can submit another form with any additional details you may have forgotten the first time. Use a different device or browser (InPrivate/Incognito) if suggested in the guidance.
    4. If you regain access to the original account
If the recovery succeeds and you can sign back into the original account:
      • Immediately follow the hacked‑account steps:
        • Run a full antivirus scan on your PC.
        • Change the account password to a strong, unique one.
See: How to help keep your Microsoft account secure
        • Review mailbox settings (connected accounts, forwarding, automatic replies) as described in the hacked‑account article.
      • Go to Advanced security options and:
        • Remove any security info, phone numbers, or email addresses you do not recognize.
        • Add another secure way to sign in or verify (e.g., a trusted phone or email): see section 3. Add another way to sign in in the security article.
      • Verify that your purchases, Xbox profile, and Minecraft license are visible again under this recovered account.
    5. If recovery fails
The context from Microsoft Q&A makes clear:
      • If the attacker has changed the primary alias and security info, and the account recovery form does not succeed, the original account is considered unrecoverable.
      • Support (including chat and phone) cannot restore such an account or move purchases/Minecraft entitlements from it.
      In that case:
      • Continue using the new account only for future use.
      • For Minecraft specifically, contact Minecraft Support separately to see if they can offer any options for your game license, as suggested in similar cases, but there is no guarantee.

Because a new account now exists on your Gmail address, always be sure you are using the correct account when signing in. The presence of the new empty account does not delete the old one; it only means the old one is now using a different sign‑in alias that only the recovery process can reconnect to you.
