Can my Office 2021 license be transferred from windows to mac

I own 1-install Office 2021 Home & Student with 25 digit key. It's installed on Windows computer. I need to migrate to Mac.

Steps taken:

  • confirmed key is still included in my Microsoft account historic purchases.
  • uninstalled from Windows computer & logged out of MS account
  • logged into MS account on my Mac
  • located purchase key & clicked install
  • "Microsoft_365_and_office_16.110.26062818_HomeStudent_installer" was downloaded.
  • After installing, I can't save any word or excel files without paying for 365 subscription

How do I install on my Mac without subscribing to 365?

Are you able to see your Microsoft Office 2021 under the Services & subscriptions page here: https://account.microsoft.com/services (make sure you’re signed in with the same Microsoft account you used to activate Office)?

If you can see it there, please follow these steps below.

If you haven't already, I’d suggest is to uninstall any existing Office apps on your Mac to avoid conflict:

Then, to reinstall Microsoft Office:

  • Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services again.
  • Sign in using the same Microsoft account linked to your license.
  • Find your Microsoft Office 2021 and click the "Install".
  • That will download the installer for the Office apps, just run it and follow the steps.
