I'm a developer of a C# winforms app developed in Visual Studio (latest 2022 version), have reached the stage of needing to acquire an Authenticode cert and am following the Quickstart: Setup Artifact Signing guide.

My problem is the requirement to use a smartphone/mobile phone to perform ID validation I am physically disabled and unable to use my phone in the required manner.

Is there an alternative mechanism for accomplishing ID validation or a department/organization within Microsoft I could contact?

Hey there, Art Hansen

My problem is the requirement to use a smartphone/mobile phone to perform ID validation I am physically disabled and unable to use my phone in the required manner.

For the ID verification process, Microsoft has partnered with AU10TIX who process the identification. The company has said they are committed to accessibility, and have released their accessibility statement here: https://www.au10tix.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/AU10TIX-Acessability-Statmenet-November-2025.pdf

If you are having trouble with verifying your identity, due to accessibility, please can you try contacting Azure support through the help and support blade here: https://portal.azure.com/#blade/Microsoft_Azure_Support/HelpAndSupportBlade

Please can you explain why you are unable to use the phone to verify your identity. They may have another process for you. If you are unable to verify your identity because you don't know how to use the phone or struggle to, please ask people who are close as they may be able to help. You can let the community know what you are finding difficult, and we can offer some help on how to get around this, so you are able to use your phone to verify your ID.

Hope this helps,
Nathan
