in the keyboard section in device manager there are two of the same devices. both saying "unknown device" the device status will either say, code 1 device not configured or code 18 install driver for device. installing the driver will only give me an error that says "windows found drivers for this device but incountered a problem while installing." the driver is "hotkey keyboard class filter driver". when i x out the error the device is moved from keyboards to unknown devices. installing via windows update does'nt work. disconnecting the keyboard and then installing the driver works but plug it back in the cycle repeats itself. uninstalling the device and restarting just reverts it and the cycle repeats. using a different keyboard makes it have the same problem. the keyboard im using is a steelseries apex 5. on windows 11 home. MAKE THIS MAKE SENSE!

You mention the 'hotkey keyboard class filter driver' in the keyboards section, do you not see the 'HID Keyboard Device' listed there.

    Open Device Manager.

At the top of Device Manager, select 'View - Show Hidden Devices'

    Expand the Keyboards section

Please provide a screenshot of that full Device Manager window.
