Microsoft account hacked - security information changed and unable to recover

My Microsoft account was compromised and the security information was changed without my permission.

Someone added a new security email, Authenticator app, and Passkey that I do not own.

I still have access to my original recovery email and the phone numbers that were previously linked to the account.

I also received Microsoft security notifications about the security information changes.

I have tried the account recovery process, but I cannot complete it because two-step verification was enabled after the unauthorized changes.

The account was used on Windows PC with Minecraft and Microsoft Store.

I need guidance on how to recover my account and verify ownership.

If two-step verification was enabled by the attacker, the standard recovery form may not be enough. Contact Microsoft Support directly and explain that your account was taken over, your security information was changed without your permission, and you can no longer access the account because of the unauthorized security changes.

Provide any information that can help verify your ownership, such as your original recovery email, previously linked phone numbers, past passwords, billing or purchase history (including Minecraft or Microsoft Store purchases), the names of devices where you signed in, and copies of the security notification emails you received.

I understand how important your account is to you, so I’m going to be honest. If the email address has been changed and two-factor authentication has been enabled by the hacker, unfortunately, the account may no longer be recoverable.

Click on "Search" and follow the instructions provided.

If you receive any error messages, such as “account doesn’t exist” or anything else, please let me know.

Thank you for your reply and for your suggestion.

I followed the Microsoft account search tool that you recommended.

The result was different from before. The tool was able to find my account and asked me to verify my identity by sending a verification code to my original email address (lo**** ***@hotmail.com).

However, I still cannot regain access because the attacker changed the security information on the account and enabled two-step verification by adding a new Authenticator app and Passkey that I do not own.

I have already contacted Microsoft Support, and my case was escalated to the Microsoft Account Safety Team. They confirmed that unauthorized access occurred and that the security information on my account had been changed. Unfortunately, they informed me that they could not restore the account due to their security policy.

Since your suggestion allowed Microsoft to locate my account, I wanted to ask if there is any other recovery method or ownership verification process that I can request.

I still have:

Access to my original recovery email.

The original recovery phone numbers linked to the account.

Microsoft security emails confirming the unauthorized security changes.

Previous account information.

Proof that I used the account on my Windows PC with Minecraft and Microsoft Store.

If there is any alternative recovery process or another Microsoft team that handles cases like this, I would greatly appreciate your guidance.

I also want to be honest with you. If Microsoft Account Safety Team already reviewed the case and confirmed that they cannot restore the account due to their security policy, then there is no other recovery method available.

You may contact Microsoft Support again and ask if it is possible to transfer any eligible game data, Minecraft content, or Microsoft Store purchases to another Microsoft account that you still have access to. I cannot guarantee that this is possible, but they are the only ones who can check purchase or game entitlement options.
