Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Hello, I'm Quinn and here to help!
The billing currency for a Microsoft 365 subscription is set by the country or region associated with the subscription when it was originally purchased. Updating your Microsoft account address alone does not automatically change the billing currency. Since you've moved from the UK to Portugal and would like your subscription to be billed in euros (EUR):
- Sign in to your Microsoft account at http://account.microsoft.com/
- Go to Subscriptions and review your subscription details. In most cases, the billing country and currency for an existing Microsoft 365 subscription cannot be changed after purchase.
- Turn off Recurring billing for your current subscription. This stops any further charges in GBP without cancelling your access right away.
- Let the subscription run until it expires naturally, rather than cancelling immediately — since this is an annual plan, cancelling early means losing whatever paid time is left, with no refund or credit for the switch. If your renewal date is coming up soon, I recommend to just wait it out.
- Ensure your Microsoft account's Country/Region is set to Portugal (this is under your account profile, not just the Address Book).
- Once the old subscription has expired, purchase a new Microsoft 365 subscription while signed in with your account set to Portugal. The new subscription will be billed in euros (EUR).
