A Microsoft app for iOS and Android devices that enables authentication with two-factor verification, phone sign-in, and code generation
On a Pixel 10 Pro, Microsoft Authenticator and other Microsoft apps must be installed from the Google Play Store; Authenticator is not available for PC or Mac and cannot be used without a supported mobile app.
If sign-in keeps rejecting the password and you cannot complete setup because it asks for Authenticator as second verification, use these steps:
- Install Microsoft Authenticator (Android)
- Open the Google Play Store on the Pixel 10 Pro.
- Search for Microsoft Authenticator or use the official link: Get the app.
- Install the app.
- Set up the account in Authenticator
- Open Microsoft Authenticator on the phone.
- Follow the prompts to add the Microsoft account (personal, work, or school) to the app.
- Enable passwordless sign-in (optional but recommended)
- After Authenticator is set up, sign in to the Microsoft account security page: Microsoft account Additional security options.
- Under Passwordless account, select Turn on.
- Follow the prompts and approve the request in the Authenticator app.
If the phone shows errors like "Authentication did not complete" or similar when using Authenticator:
- Make sure push notifications are enabled for Microsoft Authenticator and that Google Play Services and Google Play Store are installed and enabled.
- Confirm the device has network connectivity (Wi‑Fi or mobile data).
- Ensure the date and time on the device are correct.
- Verify the app is unlocked and updated to the latest version from Google Play.
If the account is a personal Microsoft account and Authenticator is locked or misconfigured, one proven approach is:
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com and open Security info.
- Remove the existing Authenticator app entry.
- Select Add sign-in method → Authenticator app and set it up again on the Pixel 10 Pro.
If this is a business/organization account and the only admin is locked out because Authenticator cannot be used, self-service recovery may not be possible; in that case, contact Microsoft Support (Data Protection team) via the official customer service phone numbers and have a support ticket raised to restore access.
