How do I stop soundwire drivers in microsoft updates hijacking and disabling my speakers?

Hello,

You can try one of the following methods to disable driver installation:

Method 1: Disable Automatic Driver Updates (Recommended)

Win + R → Type sysdm.cpl

Open "Hardware" → "Device Installation Settings"

Select: No (Do not automatically download device applications and manufacturer drivers)

Method 2: Hide Driver Updates (Most Effective)

Use the official Microsoft tool "Show or Hide Updates"

Steps:

Open the tool

Select "Hide Updates"

Check this driver

After hiding, it will not automatically reappear.

Thank you. This should be useful for the future though it doesn't solve my problem that update has again disabled my speakers, but seems to have done something different this time and the procedure I followed before hasn't worked. I'll try and report it again in another post.
