Bit locker keys the same for both my computers in my account

I got locked out of my new HP computer. When entering the bit locker number, it was not accepted. When checking my account, my older Dell computer has the exact same bit locker number. Shouldn’t they have different bit lockers? The new computer should have been assigned a new bit locker number at set-up, correct? How can I resolve this issue?

The bitlocker key should be the 48-digit number-only string, identified by the key ID. And you are correct, it shouldn't be the same for different devices.

On your HP screen where it asks for the bitlocker, do you see the bitlocker key ID?

The first 8 digits is what you use to look for the key it wants. Let me know if that's how you found the key for your HP.
