I recently purchased a Surface Pro 4 running Windows 10 from a previous owner. The device has a UEFI (firmware) password set, which prevents me from accessing BIOS settings or changing boot options. Unfortunately, I do not know the password, and the seller did not provide it.

I understand that UEFI passwords are a security feature, but I would like to know:

Is there any official way to reset or remove the UEFI password on a Surface Pro 4?

What documentation or proof of purchase is required for Microsoft Support to assist with this?

If I cannot obtain the password from the seller, what are my options for unlocking or servicing the device?

Any guidance on the official support process for second‑hand Surface devices with UEFI locks would be greatly appreciated.

    Microsoft cannot assist with UEFI passwords. Microsoft cannot remove or reset UEFI passwords and the only option is to get the password from the seller or return the Surface to the seller. Surface Pro 4 was released in 2015 and is over 10 years old and there is no exchange available through Microsoft. Sorry.
