i'm unable to turn any sound on. My laptop is saying 'no audio device installed. i.m not sure what i need to download to get sound on my PC again. I haven't made any changes as far as i know and the sound worked until recently
Hi Jeanine, I need to check your hardware and drivers.

Right click your Start Button and open Device Manager.
Expand the 'Sound, Video and Game Controllers' section.
Please provide a screenshot of that full Device Manager window.

Click your Start Button, then just type msinfo and press Enter, please provide a screenshot of the resulting System Information window.

Your screenshots indicate there is currently no audio drivers installed on your PC.
This link seems to be the support page for your laptop on the Acer website.

From there, download the installers for the Realtek HD Audio drivers and the VGA Driver (UMA) drivers, then run those installers to reinstall (not update) those drivers.
Then, restart your laptop to apply the change.

Usually, there should be a Setup.exe or Install.exe file in the installer you downloaded that you can use to install the drivers with.
so sorry, i really can't figure out how to install. I've extracted all files. When i then open the files i can't see setup.exe or install.exe
Okay, I just downloaded the Realtek HD Audio drivers to test that, I extracted out the zip file, and in there is a file named Setup.exe, you need to double click that to install the drivers, then do the same for the Intel graphics drivers.
thank you so much, that's fixed it now. I'm not great with IT so it took me a while to get it figured out how to install! Thanks for your help
Did you save the driver to your download folder? If yes, right click on it and select Run as Administrator, if you are an administrator. You should see something like this. It should say install instead of upgrade.

Look at Settings>System>Sound and see what is showing. Check the User Manual for your Acer Laptop. Did your laptop come with speakers?
It looks like there is no output device found - its weird as i did have sound on my laptop until a few weeks ago and i've not made any changes. I noticed when i tried to unmute my speakers and the option was greyed out. The speaker icon says 'no audio device is installed' when i hover over it
