I cannot cancel meetings from my calendar that were automatically transferred from Skype

Hello, hope someone can help me. On my Teams calendar there are a number of recurring meetings that were probably transferred over directly from Skype. It is really annoying because, although I can schedule other meetings during those times, they appear as overlapping and it looks confusing. When I try to cancel either the occurrence or the series, I alwayys get an error message saying to try again later and I cannot get rid of them. Anyone knows how to get around this glitch? As i have reviewed, you have recurring meetings showing up in your Teams calendar that seem to have been carried over from Skype. Even though you can book other meetings at the same time, these entries remain visible and give the impression of overlapping. When you try to cancel them, you receive an error message and the meetings stay in place.

To guide you better, it helps to know:

  • Do these meetings show you as the organizer or only as an attendee?
  • Are you using Outlook together with Teams, or only the Teams calendar view?
  • Do the same meetings appear in your Outlook calendar

Along the way, I will also share a few simple steps you can try to double‑check what might be happening on your end.

1/ Check the organizer field

Open one of the meetings and look at the organizer.

If it shows another person, you cannot cancel the series.

In that case, choose “Decline” so the series is removed from your calendar.

2/ Delete from Outlook

Since Teams calendar is connected to Outlook, open Outlook (desktop or web).

Go to your calendar, find the same recurring meeting, and delete it there. This often works more reliably.

3/ Decline the series

If you are listed as an attendee, open the meeting invite and choose “Decline” for the series.

This should remove it from your Teams calendar.

4/ Refresh the sync

After making changes, sign out of Teams and Outlook, then sign back in. This refreshes the calendar sync and clears entries that were stuck.

    Thank you, I am the organizer, but I cannot edit or delete either the series nor the occurrence. I either get a blank screen or a message stating that the system is unable to cancel the meeting. Please see attached screenshots. Don't know what to do, it is a glitch of sort, but how to go around it, no clue. If you have other ideas, please let me know.

    Hello again, I was able to cancel all the unwanted meetings from Outlook. Thank you again for your help, now my calendar looks much more efficient.
