When setting up device on my iPhone - I login fine and then it says to set up device I get an error that safari can’t open the page because the server cannot be found. This worked last week - who can I call to resolve ? We have verification codes that need to be verified.

The Safari error typically occurs during Intune/Company Portal enrollment when the device cannot reach the Intune enrollment site or when the web app is configured to require a managed browser that is not installed.

Based on the described flow (sign in, then “set up device” on iPhone, then Safari error), this is most likely Intune enrollment via Safari/Company Portal.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Use the supported enrollment path in Safari
For web-based enrollment, the only supported browser is Safari. Make sure the enrollment link is opened directly in Safari (not in another browser or an in‑app web view). The standard URL for iOS web enrollment is: https://portal.manage.microsoft.com/enrollment/webenrollment/ios Steps:
      • Open Safari on the iPhone.
      • Go to the URL above.
      • Sign in with the work or school account.
      • When prompted, download the management profile and stay in Safari until the download completes.
      • Open Settings > General > VPN & Device Management > Profile Downloaded, then Install the profile and follow the prompts.
    2. Check for “Require a managed browser” setting on any Intune web app shortcut
If a web app (shortcut) is being used as part of setup and it shows:

Safari cannot open the page because the address is invalid

then in Intune this web app may be configured with Require a managed browser to open this link = Yes, but the Intune Managed Browser app is not installed on the iPhone. Resolution options (for the Intune admin):
      • Install the Intune Managed Browser app on the iOS device; or
      • In the Intune console, edit the web app and set Require a managed browser to open this link to No.
    3. Confirm device prerequisites
Ensure the device meets the documented requirements for enrollment:
      • iOS/iPadOS version supported for the chosen method (14+ for Company Portal app enrollment; 15+ for web enrollment and account‑driven user enrollment).
      • Stable Wi‑Fi connection during the entire enrollment process.
    4. If it worked last week and now consistently fails
This suggests either a change in Intune configuration (such as the managed browser requirement) or a network/DNS issue reaching the Intune enrollment endpoint.
      • Test the same URL on another iOS device using Safari.
      • If multiple users/devices see the same Safari error, contact the organization’s IT/Intune administrator to verify Intune enrollment configuration and network access to portal.manage.microsoft.com.
    5. Who to call
      • First contact the internal IT/helpdesk or Intune/Microsoft 365 administrator; they can check Intune app and enrollment configuration and confirm whether any changes were made since last week.
      • If the issue persists for all users and the Intune admin confirms configuration is correct, the admin can open a support case with Microsoft via the Microsoft 365 or Intune admin portal.

Once enrollment completes successfully and Microsoft Authenticator is installed on the device, verification codes and MFA prompts should work normally again.
