I am unable to close my microsoft account as I no longer use the email. it is outlook.in domain.

I am getting below error saying i is linked with organization.

I've already contacted tech support and did troubleshooting, it is still not able to close either any devices. Also, the tech support checked in the computer and no organization linked on the account.

Also, the domain is Outlook.in which is a personal account and not linked any account. The tech support tells me that there is high possibility that this account linked to the Azure or commercial. Please help to unlink it, in order to close the account.

I would appreciate help in closing my account.

Thanks

    Dear @Somanath Kornepati,

Good day! Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum!

Based on your description, I understand that you’re trying to close your Microsoft account associated with an outlook.in email address, but you’re unable to proceed because the system indicates the account is linked to a work or organization. Even though support confirmed no visible organization is connected, it may still be associated with an Azure directory, and you need help resolving this so you can close the account.

From the screenshot you shared, the message “You need to leave your work organization” typically appears when your Microsoft account is still associated with an Azure Active Directory (Microsoft Entra ID) tenant, even if that connection is not obvious or actively used.

Therefore, kindly try the following suggestions to help with this situation:

    • Please sign in to the Azure portal here: https://portal.azure.com
    • Once signed in, select Manage Microsoft Entra ID
    • User's image
    • Then click on Manage tenants
    • User's image
    • Check if you see any organization listed there
    • If you do, please select the organization and click Leave tenant
    • User's image

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you.

Kindly let me know when there are updates or if you need further assistance. Any updates you’re able to share would be really helpful. I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing how things are going!

Thank you for your time and patience.
