how to install Office 2019

Hello,

I own a valid perpetual Microsoft Office 2019 for Mac license, which I purchased several years ago. I recently replaced my Mac with a new one running the latest version of macOS.

When I sign in to my Microsoft account and download Office from my Services & Subscriptions page, the installer automatically installs Microsoft 365 apps instead of Office 2019.

After installation, Excel opens, but I cannot save or edit documents because it asks me to activate a Microsoft 365 subscription. I do not have a Microsoft 365 subscription, and I do not want one, as I already own a paid Office 2019 license.

Could you please help me with the following:

  • How can I install and activate my Office 2019 for Mac license on my new Mac?
  • Is there an official Office 2019 installer available for my license?

I would appreciate your assistance in activating the license I already own instead of being prompted to purchase a subscription.

Office 2019 is no longer installable in current versions of macOS. If my memory serves me, Ventura, Sonoma and Tahoe don't allow it. Monterey still supports it until July 13, 2026, when Office 2019 for Mac will go into a reduced functionality mode. Probably time to upgrade to Office 2024 with Outlook or without Outlook.

    Could you please provide your macOS version?

    When you open Excel and the pop-up ask you to sign in to activate, please sign in with your account that has license 2019 to it. If it shows any error, please provide it.

    In case it did not work, please fully uninstall previous office and try download Office 2019 for Mac via here. Scroll to bottom and choose your Office version.

    If none of the above works, please provide your mac OS version and from there, I will be able to find a compatible version with your Mac.
