A fully managed end-to-end service for digitally signing code, documents, and applications. (formerly Trusted Signing)
Processing time for Artifact Signing organization identity validation is documented as 1–20 business days, and it can take longer if additional documentation is required. A status of In Progress for more than seven days is still within the normal processing window.
Key points and next steps:
- Check status and email notifications
- In the Azure portal, open the Artifact Signing account → Identity validations and confirm the status is still In Progress (not Action Required or Failed).
- Monitor the primary and secondary email addresses provided in the request (including Junk/Spam) for any messages requesting more documentation or indicating a status change.
- Understand the processing window
- Identity validation typically takes 1–20 business days, possibly longer if more documentation is needed. Seven days with no update does not necessarily indicate a problem.
- If the request eventually fails
- If the status changes to Failed, this means the Microsoft validation team could not validate the information with the documents provided. In that case, identity validation cannot proceed further, and onboarding to Artifact Signing is not possible for that request. The guidance is to delete the Artifact Signing account so it does not incur charges for unused resources.
- If you suspect an issue or need assistance
- If the status remains unchanged and there are no emails after a longer period (approaching or beyond the 20-business-day window), use one of the support options:
- Open a support ticket from the Azure portal for the subscription where the Artifact Signing account is created.
- Or post on Microsoft Q&A with the artifact-signing tag for community and product team visibility.
- If the status remains unchanged and there are no emails after a longer period (approaching or beyond the 20-business-day window), use one of the support options:
There is no way to expedite identity validation, and creating multiple identity validation requests for the same entity does not speed up the process.
