I cannot take the lock off my account on my desktop.

I can access Outlook from my desktop.

I need help removing the lock on my desktop.

I tried using a password and the authenticator app, and both returned a message saying I am locked out.

I administer the account. I can log into my account online but I can't open Outlook.

I can open Excel, Word, and One Note but not Outlook from this machine.

I need someone to help, as nothing I have seen online solves this issue

Thank you for providing those details. That is very important. From what I can see, Outlook was already causing you problems before the update.

Since email works normally via the web on the same computer, I find it unlikely to be an account issue. It is something within Windows. In this case, there are two procedures you can try:

01 - Clean Reinstallation of Outlook

Completely uninstall Outlook and its components, then reinstall it. You must uninstall any version or leftover traces of Outlook. Therefore, follow the step-by-step instructions below exactly:

  1. Open Windows Settings > Apps > Installed Apps > Find pelos app abaixo > Click on ●●● > Uninstall.
  • Microsoft 365 (Office 365)
  • Microsoft Office (2024, 2022...)
  • Outlook Classic
  • Outlook (Outlook For Windows, New Outlook)
  • Uninstall all apps that contain these names.
  1. Restart your computer.
  2. If you uninstall Microsoft 365, follow the steps below. If you have a Microsoft 365 (Office 365) subscription, skip step B. Download the new Outlook in step C and sign in to your account.

A. Microsoft 365: https://account.microsoft.com/services > Log in > Expand Microsoft 365 > Install apps...

B. Outlook Classic: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/install-or-reinstall-classic-outlook-on-a-windows-pc-5c94902b-31a5-4274-abb0-b07f4661edf5

C. Outlook (New Outlook) https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9nrx63209r7b?hl=en-us

02 - Test with another user account

Try to create a user profile. Maybe your user is corrupted. Create a user to confirm whether the issue is in your current user profile or system. Follow the steps below:

  1. Go to System Settings (CTRL + I) > Select ''Accounts'' > 'Family and other users'' > ''Add another person to this PC'.
  2. On the Accounts screen, choose the option ''I don’t have that person’s login information' > Then select ''Add a user without a Microsoft account''.
  3. Click on the newly created user > Click "Change account type" > Under Account Type, change the option "Default User" to "Administrator" > Click "OK".
  4. Enter the username, and password (optional, leave blank if you do not want to put password) > Click ''Next'.
  5. Press the shortcut CTRL + ALT + DEL (DELETE) > Select ''Exit'' option > On the Login screen, choose the new user created.
  6. See if the problem will occur with this new user.

    Hi!

As I understand it, you cannot log in to the New Outlook, but you can log in to Outlook Web on the same computer?

If that is the case, it might be a minor Windows synchronization issue. You can disconnect and reconnect your Windows account.

    1. Open Windows Settings > Accounts > Your info > Under Microsoft account, click Sign in as a local account.
    2. Click Next > Enter your email or Windows login password.
    3. Enter your user information > Next > Sign out and finish.
    4. After unlinking your email account from Windows, restart your PC > When it starts, relink your email account.
