Hello, I am looking for some advice or information on how to recover my account. I am technically a Microsoft employee (working for a subsidiary) and have my company Gamepass info associated with the account. I follow the unlock form which seems to be the only option I have and receive back a generic response that it is unable to be -unlocked and to try the form again. It does not give an option to provide my ID or Gamepass information, these would clearly prove account ownership, so I need to know what my options are here, as an employee I surely should be able to get this resolved and get my personal xbox live account reinstated?

For a personal Microsoft account that has been compromised and is now locked, the only supported recovery paths are the automated self-service tools, even for Microsoft employees. Employment status, ID, or Game Pass entitlement cannot be used by support to override those systems or manually reinstate a personal Xbox/Microsoft account.

Use these options, in order, based on the available information:

    1. Run through the hacked/compromised account flow
Use the official guide for compromised accounts, which routes through the sign-in helper and recovery options:
How to recover a hacked or compromised Microsoft account.
      This flow will:
      • Ask for the account identifier (email/phone/Skype).
      • Offer self-help or the chance to talk to an agent, depending on what the system detects.
    2. Use the Microsoft account recovery form repeatedly, with maximum detail
The account recovery form is the primary method to prove ownership when normal sign-in and security info are not available: Key points from the guidance:
      • Fill it out from a device and location previously used to sign in to that account (home/office PC, usual network).
      • Provide as much historical detail as possible (previous passwords, contacts, subject lines, etc.).
      • If the result email says “We could not verify your account”, it is allowed to retry up to two times per day with improved information.
      After submission:
      • Results are sent to the working email specified within about 24 hours.
      • If verification succeeds, instructions to sign back in are sent.
      • If verification fails, the only option is to keep trying, up to the daily limit.
    3. If security info is the issue (codes going to old methods)
If the problem is lost or replaced security info (phone/email) rather than a full lockout:
      • If some security info is still accessible, sign in to Advanced security options and add a new verification method, then remove the compromised one:
        Troubleshoot Microsoft verification code issues.
      • If all security info is lost but the password is known, follow the “I don't have any of these” path at the verify-identity prompt and replace the security info. This triggers a 30‑day restriction before normal sign-in is restored.
    4. When recovery is unsuccessful
If the recovery form continues to fail:
      • The official guidance is that the form can be retried, but there is no manual override by support agents for personal accounts:
        Account recovery unsuccessful.
      • Support agents are explicitly not allowed to send password reset links or change account details outside this process.
    5. If the account appears “not found”
If messages like “The Microsoft account you've entered does not exist” appear, verify the username and domain and review:
My username and password have stopped working.

    Summary of options:

    • Use the hacked-account guide and sign-in helper.
    • Complete the account recovery form from a known device/location, with maximum detail, and retry up to two times per day if denied.
    • Adjust or replace security info if still partially accessible.
    • If the automated systems cannot verify ownership, there is no supported escalation path—support and even internal staff cannot bypass these controls for personal accounts, even when Game Pass or employee status is involved.
