Repetitive pop-up telling me to sign in even when I have already signed in multiple times

This issue has been going on for quite a bit.

It stops me from using the screenshot button as every time I do it pops up and stops the screenshot.

I have a windows 11 laptop.

The exact phrasing of the initial pop-up is "Sign in so you don't miss out".

Is there any was to fix this?

Please and Thank you.

Hi Ellen Lervik,

I understand how frustrating that would be, especially when the pop-up is interrupting Win + Shift + S screenshots.

First, could you clarify:

  • Are you signed in to Windows with a Microsoft account or a local account?
  • Does the pop-up appear only when using the screenshot tool, or does it also appear at other times?
  • Did this start after a recent Windows update or account change?

Based on the message "Sign in so you don't miss out", I suspect Windows is showing a Microsoft account setup/re-engagement notification rather than a sign-in failure. Microsoft documents that these notifications can be controlled through the Windows notification settings.

In the meantime, please try:

  1. Open "Settings" > "System" > "Notifications".
  2. Expand "Additional settings" at the bottom of the page.
  3. Uncheck:
    • "Show the Windows welcome experience after updates and when signed in to show what's new and suggested" (if applicable)
    • "Get tips and suggestions when using Windows"
  4. Restart the PC and check whether the pop-up still appears when taking a screenshot.
