When I entered my Azure account information, because it's a new computer, I was asked to enter a verification code. However, my account doesn't have an email address; I've linked an Outlook email address, but Outlook doesn't receive emails, which is why I can't log in.

To regain access, update or replace the verification method on the account and ensure a working email or phone can receive codes.

    1. If still signed in anywhere (browser, old PC, phone):
      • Go to the Security basics page and sign in: https://account.microsoft.com/security
      • Select Update info.
      • Add a new way to sign in or verify (mobile phone or another email that can receive mail).
      • Use that new method to receive verification codes going forward.
    2. If not receiving verification codes at all for this Microsoft account:
      • Make sure the verification email is being sent to a valid alias or security email that can receive mail. Verification codes are only sent to the primary alias or another email added as a way to verify sign in.
      • Check the junk/spam folder for messages from @accountprotection.microsoft.com and mark it as a trusted sender.
      • Avoid repeatedly requesting codes; excessive or repetitive requests can cause Microsoft to temporarily block sending verification codes due to unusual activity.
      • If using SMS, ensure the phone does not block texts from unknown numbers and that a mobile (not VOIP) number is configured.
    3. If the account’s security info (email/phone) is no longer usable:
      • Start sign-in to the Microsoft account.
      • At the Verify your identity prompt, select I don't have any of these.
      • Follow the prompts to replace the security info. Once replaced, there is a 30‑day waiting period before normal sign-in is restored. During those 30 days, if the old security info becomes available again, it can still be used to sign in, but doing so cancels the update.
    4. If all security info is lost and the password is also unknown or cannot be used:
    5. If still unable to sign in after these steps:
      • Use the Sign-in helper tool to diagnose sign-in issues: Sign-in helper.
      • For further technical support, go to Contact Microsoft Support, enter the problem, select Get Help, then Contact Support. Note that support agents cannot send verification codes or change account details.
