Hi there,

I'm using Micosoft forms for coding quizzes and I need to add line breaks to multiple choice answers.
It doesn't seem like this is possible, which is quite limiting.

Thanks,

Connon

    Refer to https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5452456/form-help-formatting

Microsoft Forms currently has limited formatting capabilities, especially for section subtitles and long-form content. However, here are a few practical tips to help you structure your form content more clearly:

Workarounds for Better Formatting in Microsoft Forms

    1. Use Line Breaks with Shift + Enter

While Forms doesn’t support bullet points or indentation, you can create line breaks manually:

    • In the Section Subtitle or Question Description, press Shift + Enter to start a new line.
    • Example: Junior Herd: - Will consist of three animals - Must be bred by exhibitor - One must be in milk Breeds: Alpine LaMancha Nubian Oberhasli Recorded Grade Saanens Toggenburgs

This will appear as a readable list, even though it’s not indented or bulleted.

    2. Break Content into Multiple Sections

If the content is too dense, consider:

    • Creating a new section for each major topic (e.g., “Breeds,” “Class Definitions”).
    • Using the description field under each section to list items with line breaks.

    3. Use Questions for Structured Lists

You can also use Choice or Text questions to simulate lists:

    • For example, list each class definition as a separate Choice item.
    • Or use a Text question with a description that includes the class numbers and definitions.

If the above response helps answer your question, remember to "Accept Answer" so that others in the community facing similar issues can easily find the solution. Your contribution is highly appreciated.
