I'm trying to scan a photo in the printer. It doesn't show up in my files.

Please try these steps;

Open File Explorer and check your Pictures folder, then look for a Scans folder.

Open the Brother iPrint&Scan or Brother ControlCenter software (if installed) and check the scan destination. It may be saving the file to a different folder.

Search your PC for recently created files:

Open File Explorer.

In the search box, type:

*.jpg

or

*.pdf

Sort the results by Date modified to find your latest scan.

If you're scanning from the printer's control panel, make sure it is set to Scan to File and that your computer is selected as the destination.

To make the scanned photo show up in files on Windows 11, check these steps end-to-end:

    1. Confirm the scanner/printer is installed
      1. Select Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners (or use this shortcut from the context: Open Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & scanners).
      2. Make sure the printer/scanner is listed. If not, use Add device to install it.
    2. Scan using the Windows Scan app
      1. Make sure the printer/scanner is turned on.
      2. Right-click Start and select Search.
      3. In Type here to search, type Windows Scan.
      4. Under Apps, select Scan.
        • If Scan is not listed, install it from Microsoft Store using the Windows Scan app link in the context.
      5. Place the photo on the scanner:
        • Flatbed: photo face down on the glass, close the lid.
        • Feeder: place as directed in the device’s documentation.
      6. In the Scan app:
        • Ensure the correct device is selected in Scanner.
        • Set Source to match where the photo is (for example, Flatbed).
        • Choose a File type (for photos, JPEG or PNG is typical).
        • Select Show more, then under Save file to, click the path and choose the folder where the scan should be saved. Click Select Folder.
      7. Click Scan at the bottom.
    3. Find where the scan was saved
      • If a folder was chosen in step 2.6, open File Explorer and browse to that folder.
      • If no folder was chosen, the default save location is:
        • Pictures > Scans in the user profile.
        • To get there: right-click Start > File Explorer, then open Pictures and then Scans.

If the scan completes but the file is not visible where expected, verify the Save file to location in the Windows Scan app before scanning again, and confirm the File type (for example, *.jpg) when looking for it in File Explorer.
