To reach a real person and get help with a Hotmail/Outlook.com or Microsoft account sign-in issue, use one of these supported options:
- Use the Microsoft account recovery form
If access to the Hotmail account is blocked and the PIN / verification steps are confusing, submit the official recovery form so the account can be verified:- Go to the Microsoft account recovery page:
https://account.live.com/acsr(from the Microsoft Q&A reference). - Choose the option like I forgot my password or similar.
- Enter the Hotmail email address and follow the prompts.
- If none of the listed verification options (phone, email, app) are available, select I don’t have any of these and fill in as much accurate information as possible (recent contacts, subjects, folders, etc.).
- Go to the Microsoft account recovery page:
- Contact Microsoft Support online (chat or callback)
A support agent can be reached using the public support channels:- Go to Contact Microsoft Support:
https://support.microsoft.com/contactus(from the Microsoft Q&A reference). - Select Microsoft account & billing or similar.
- Enter a brief description such as “recover Hotmail account – no PIN” and select Get Help.
- If the automated suggestions do not solve the problem, scroll down and choose Contact Support.
- Depending on region and availability, choose Chat with a support agent in your web browser or a Call me back option.
- Go to Contact Microsoft Support:
- Use Outlook.com in-product Help to reach an agent (if signed in anywhere)
If any Outlook.com / Hotmail account can be accessed in a browser:- Go to
outlook.comand sign in. - Select Help on the menu bar.
- Enter the problem description in the Help pane.
- If self-help articles do not resolve the issue, scroll down to Still need help? and select Yes.
- Choose Chat with a support agent in your web browser when offered.
- Go to
- Customer service phone numbers (for speaking to someone)
For regions where phone support is available, Microsoft publishes customer service phone numbers:- Use the customer service phone number listing page:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/customer-service-phone-numbers-c0389ade-5640-e588-8b0e-28de8afeb3f2(from the Microsoft Q&A reference). - Select the appropriate region and product category, then follow the prompts to reach a live agent or request a callback.
- Use the customer service phone number listing page:
If verification codes or PINs are not arriving or are rejected, Microsoft support agents cannot bypass security by sending codes or changing account details directly. In that case, completing the recovery form and waiting for the verification result is required.
