My Microsoft 365 Classic subscription has been automatically updated to Personal with AI!

I hate AI and do not want anything to do with it.

I want my Classic subscription back please.

To return to a Microsoft 365 subscription without AI features (Classic), the subscription must be changed/downgraded from the current AI-enabled plan back to a Classic plan. This is done through the Microsoft account subscription management page by using the cancel/switch flow.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Go to the Microsoft account Services & subscriptions page: https://account.microsoft.com/services
    2. Sign in with the same Microsoft account that owns the current Microsoft 365 Personal (with AI) subscription.
    3. Locate the Microsoft 365 subscription that was upgraded (for example, Microsoft 365 Personal or Family with Copilot/AI) and select Manage or Manage subscription.
    4. Select Cancel subscription (or Upgrade or Cancel, then choose Cancel subscription).
    5. During the cancellation/switch process, look for the option to switch/downgrade to a Classic plan (for example, Microsoft 365 Personal Classic or Family Classic) instead of fully cancelling. Microsoft presents this as a lower-feature, lower-cost alternative.
    6. Confirm the switch by following the on-screen instructions. The current AI-enabled plan will continue until the end of the current billing period, then renew into the Classic plan without AI.

    Important points:

    • Switching to a subscription with fewer features (such as Classic without AI) is handled as a change of plan via the cancel/switch flow; the subscription remains active until it renews into the new plan.
    • Only the subscription owner can manage and change the subscription.
    • If the subscription was purchased through a third party (for example, Apple App Store, another retailer), the change or cancellation must be done through that retailer’s subscription/billing system instead of the Microsoft account site.
    • If the option to switch to Classic does not appear, contact Microsoft Billing Support so an agent can review the account and available plan options.
