When the Microsoft account recovery form is automatically rejected, the only available options are to improve the form submission and, if needed, contact support using a different account. Direct manual override of the automated decision is not available.
Use these steps:
- Retry the recovery form with more/different data
- You can submit the recovery form multiple times, but only up to two times per day.
- Before trying again, review the official guidance on how to fill it out carefully: Help with the Microsoft account recovery form.
- For Xbox/Microsoft accounts, gather as much detail as possible:
- All old passwords ever used on that account.
- Exact email address and domain (for example, check if it was
.comvs.co.uk). - Details of recent purchases (dates, approximate amounts, and items bought) that match Microsoft’s records.
- Any other Microsoft services used with that account (Outlook/Hotmail, Skype, Xbox console hardware ID, etc.).
- Answer every question on the form and use all “add more” options where available. Wrong answers do not count against the request; missing information does.
- If the recovery request keeps failing
- If the form response says the request wasn’t granted, you can keep trying as many times as you want, respecting the two attempts per day limit.
- If you don’t recognize the security info shown during normal password reset (email/phone), use the Sign-in Helper instead of the standard reset flow: Sign-in Helper.
- When the account is locked or blocked
- If the account is locked and you don’t see Next when signing in, follow the aka.ms/ link shown on the lock screen and complete that form. A Microsoft Online Safety agent reviews that submission and contacts you by email. Submitting multiple reinstatement forms can slow down the response.
- Contact a real person at Microsoft
- Community forums and this channel cannot access or change accounts. To speak with a support agent, sign in with any other working Microsoft account (create a new Outlook.com account if needed) and then contact support:
- Use the “Contact support” or “Contact – Microsoft Support” entry points described in the Q&A examples to reach a chat with a support agent in your web browser.
- Choose the product category related to account security / Microsoft account and explain that the recovery form is repeatedly rejected even with full details.
- Community forums and this channel cannot access or change accounts. To speak with a support agent, sign in with any other working Microsoft account (create a new Outlook.com account if needed) and then contact support:
- Important limitations
- If two-step verification was enabled on the account and none of the verification methods are accessible anymore, support agents are not allowed to bypass verification or send manual reset links.
- If the automated recovery form cannot verify ownership after multiple well-filled attempts, the account may be unrecoverable.
