Thanks for confirming.

Since the keyboard works on the left USB port and other USB devices also fail on the right USB port, this suggests the issue is with the USB port itself or its driver rather than the keyboard.

Try these steps:

  • Shut down the laptop completely.
  • Unplug the charger and any USB devices.
  • Hold the power button for 15-20 seconds.
  • Start the laptop and test the right USB port again.

If that does not help, open Device Manager and expand Universal Serial Bus controllers. Right-click each USB Root Hub and Generic USB Hub, then select Uninstall device. Restart the laptop afterward. Windows should reinstall the USB drivers automatically.

What is the make and model of the laptop?

Also, did the right USB port stop working recently, perhaps after a Windows update, driver update, or physical impact to the laptop?

Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

Is this the same keyboard that worked before on this PC, or is it a new keyboard?

Try plugging the keyboard into a different USB port, preferably a USB port on the back of the computer if you're using a desktop. If possible, test the keyboard on another computer to see if it is detected there.

When Device Manager shows "Unknown Device," it can be caused by a faulty USB port, a damaged keyboard cable, or a driver issue.

What is the make and model of the keyboard? Are you using a desktop or laptop?

Do you see any error code when you open the properties of the "Unknown Device" in Device Manager?
