I have cancelled premium and I paid for this as a one off monthly payment from my own card on my work Microsoft. I've cancelled the reoccurring payments and it says premium is active until December - but I cant afford that?! It said when I signed up and could cancel and activate at any time the reoccurring payment and I need to remove my card from teh work account so the annual payment doesn't come off it. But I also can 't allow the premium to come off the work card and there are no humans to speak to on the phone to sort this its the WORST service I've ever known just to ask what should be a simple bit of reassurance.

To verify that no further Premium charges will be taken and to remove the card, two things must be checked: the subscription’s recurring billing status and the stored payment method.

    1. Confirm that recurring billing is off (no future charges for this subscription)
      • Go to the Microsoft account Services & Subscriptions page: https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the same account used to buy Premium.
      • Find the Premium subscription and select Manage.
      • If you see Turn on recurring billing, this means recurring billing is already off and you will not be charged again; the “active until December” date just shows how long the already‑paid period lasts.
      • If you see an option like Cancel or Cancel subscription, follow the prompts to cancel. When recurring billing is turned off or the subscription is canceled, the subscription continues only until the expiry date and is not renewed.
    2. Check/change how the subscription is paid (for subscriptions that still have recurring billing)
      • If the subscription still shows as having recurring billing, select Manage > Change how you pay (if available).
      • If Change how you pay is not visible, it usually means recurring billing is already off and the subscription will simply end when it expires.
    3. If this is a Microsoft 365 for business (work) subscription managed by an admin
      • Only an admin can control recurring billing for a business subscription.
      • An admin should:
        1. Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center and sign in with an admin account.
        2. Go to Billing > Your products.
        3. Select the relevant product.
        4. In Billing settings, choose Edit recurring billing and set it to Off, then Save.
        5. If needed, select Cancel subscription and choose whether to cancel now or before the next renewal date.
    4. If the subscription was a one‑off/prepaid code
      • If it was prepaid with a code, it will simply expire at the end of the term. Recurring billing can be turned on only if a card was added; if recurring billing is off, no further charges will be made.
    5. If a refund is needed because of affordability or misunderstanding
      • After canceling, eligibility for a refund can be checked using the guidance in the refund article for Microsoft subscriptions. Some regions may allow prorated refunds.

If any charge appears that is not expected, or if the subscription/payment method cannot be found or changed using the steps above, contact Microsoft Support for billing using the official support paths in the referenced articles and provide the account and transaction details so they can review refund options and confirm that no further charges will occur.
