Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
There are likely two separate Microsoft 365 Personal subscriptions active. One of them must be canceled so only a single subscription renews.
Follow these steps to cancel the extra subscription that was purchased directly from Microsoft:
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the Microsoft account used for the subscription.
- Under Services & subscriptions, find each Microsoft 365 Personal entry.
- For the subscription that should be canceled, select Manage.
- If Turn on recurring billing is shown instead of Manage, that subscription is already set to expire and will not be billed again.
- On the next page, select Cancel or Cancel subscription (it might say Upgrade or Cancel), then follow the prompts to complete cancellation.
- Repeat for any other duplicate Microsoft 365 Personal subscription that should not renew.
Key points:
- Access to a canceled subscription continues until the end of the current billing period.
- If the subscriptions were started with different Microsoft accounts or via a third party (e.g., retailer, app store), the same steps must be done in the correct account or via that retailer’s billing support.
- If there are unwanted charges or double billing, eligibility for a refund can be checked after canceling by following the refund guidance in the references.
