A Microsoft app for iOS and Android devices that enables authentication with two-factor verification, phone sign-in, and code generation
For Eventbrite sign-in, Microsoft Authenticator only shows a code if the Eventbrite account is still configured in the app and the app is working correctly. If no code appears or the account entry is missing, the app cannot generate a valid code for Eventbrite.
To troubleshoot Microsoft Authenticator itself:
- Make sure the app is unlocked
- Open Microsoft Authenticator and ensure it is not locked by PIN/biometrics. If it is, unlock it and check again for the Eventbrite entry and its code.
- Check notifications and network
- Ensure the device has internet access (try switching between Wi‑Fi and mobile data).
- Confirm notifications are enabled for Microsoft Authenticator so any prompts can appear.
- Update and verify device settings
- Update Microsoft Authenticator to the latest version.
- Ensure the device date and time are set correctly (automatic time is recommended). Incorrect time can break time-based codes.
If the Eventbrite account entry is no longer in Microsoft Authenticator, or the app still does not show a one-time password code after these checks, the Eventbrite two-step verification setup must be recovered or reset directly with Eventbrite support or via their account recovery options, because only Eventbrite can re-establish or change the 2FA configuration for that Eventbrite account.
For Microsoft accounts protected by Authenticator, if sign-in fails with “Authentication did not complete,” use these steps:
- Confirm the app is unlocked.
- Enable notifications and check for silent SMS codes.
- Update the app to the latest version.
- Verify network connectivity and correct date/time.
- If locked out of a Microsoft account due to lost access to Authenticator and no other methods, contact the appropriate support (for work/school tenants, this may involve Microsoft’s Data Protection team via the customer service phone numbers) to reset MFA from their side.
