To see the full Microsoft account username that is being masked (for example fr****@outlook.com), use the official username lookup and, if needed, check products where the account was used.

    1. Use the Microsoft username lookup tool:
      1. Go to the Look up your Microsoft account username page: select Search in the steps here: Forgotten your Microsoft account username.
      2. Enter the security contact email or phone number that was added to the Xbox/Microsoft account.
      3. Choose to receive a security code on that email or phone.
      4. Enter the code and select Next.
      5. Microsoft will then show a hint of the username in the format j******@outlook.com. If more than one account is linked to that phone/email, multiple hints may appear.
    2. If no security info works or the lookup fails, check other products/services where the account was used:
      1. Follow the guidance in Check products or services where you used your Microsoft account.
      2. Check all email inboxes for Microsoft receipts (games, subscriptions, Xbox purchases). The email address that received those receipts is usually the Microsoft account username.
      3. If there is access to any Windows 10/11 PC where that Xbox account was signed in with the same Microsoft account, go to Start > Settings > Accounts > Email & accounts and look under Email & app accounts to see the usernames associated with the device.
    3. If the username is known but sign-in still fails:
      1. Use the Recover your account flow described in My username and password have stopped working.
      2. Enter the email/phone/Skype name, get a security code, and reset the password if prompted.

If none of these steps reveal the full username, it may mean there is no accessible security info or product still tied to that account, and recovery options will be limited to what the automated tools can find.
