Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Since both phone and computer sign-ins are blocked and there is no prompt to verify by another method (number or email), the only available options are:
- Try another verification method
- On the sign-in screen, select I don't have a code, I can't use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now, or Try another verification method (wording may vary).
- If any other method (SMS, email, backup phone, security key, or Outlook mobile sign-in) is listed, choose it and complete verification.
- Use Outlook mobile or Authenticator if already configured
- If Outlook mobile notifications were previously enabled for your work/school account, open Outlook on your phone and approve the sign-in request or use a one-time code from Settings → Accounts → Sign-in requests.
- If Authenticator is still listed as a method but not working, on the sign-in page choose Other ways to sign in and try Approve a request on my Microsoft Authenticator app again, ensuring the app is installed and opened.
- If multiple failed attempts have occurred
- Microsoft Entra multifactor authentication may temporarily block further attempts after repeated failures.
- Wait before trying again and avoid repeated sign-in attempts, or use a different MFA method if any is available.
- If no alternative method works
- For a school (work/school) account, contact the school’s IT help desk or administrator and ask them to clear/reset MFA settings for the account.
- After the admin clears the settings, the next sign-in will prompt to re-register two-factor verification (including Authenticator) so access to the school portal can be restored.
Support agents and documentation cannot bypass verification or send codes directly; only the organization’s help desk/admin can reset MFA for a school account.
