Existing Microsoft Tenant Found for Educational Domain but No Administrator Access
Hello,
We are trying to onboard VS International College (Nepal) to Microsoft Education and Azure for Students.
During investigation, we found:
- Domain: [Moderator note: personal info removed]
- Google Workspace is currently used for email.
- MX records point to Google.
- DNS contains the Microsoft verification TXT record: MS=ms624xxxx7
Using the Microsoft realm lookup API, we receive:
{ "NameSpaceType":"Managed", "DomainName":"[Moderator note: personal info removed]", "FederationBrandName":"VS International College" }
This indicates that a Microsoft tenant already exists and is associated with our domain.
However:
- We do not know the Global Administrator account.
- We cannot create a new Office 365 Education tenant because the domain is already associated with an existing tenant.
- Azure for Students verification fails.
- Password reset reports that our recently created user accounts do not exist in Microsoft.
We have administrative access to the domain DNS and can provide proof of ownership.
What is the recommended process to recover or regain administrative access to the existing Microsoft tenant associated with VS International College?
Thank you.
