Hello @Marianne Cook

Since this is a user-to-user support forum, moderators here are not Microsoft support. We don’t have backend access and can’t directly intervene in Microsoft services or perform escalations. We can help by sharing troubleshooting guidance and best‑practice recommendations based on similar cases. With that in mind, could you help clarify a few details so I can better understand your situation and assist you more effectively?

1> Are you using PowerPoint on Windows or Mac?

  • If Windows, is it Windows 10 or 11?
  • If Mac, which macOS version?

2> Do you know your PowerPoint / Office version?

3> Is the issue happening only with PowerPoint, or do other Office apps (Word, Excel…) also crash?

4> Does it happen with all files, or just one file? If you open a blank presentation, does it also crash?

5> What type of license are you using, and are you signed in with a personal account (Outlook/Hotmail) or a work/school account?

In the meantime, if you’re on Windows, you can try some standard troubleshooting steps:

1> Update Office: Open any Office app (for example: Word) >File > Account > Update Options > Update Now

2> Start PowerPoint in Safe Mode (to check add-ins): Press Windows + R > Type: powerpnt /safe > Enter

If it works in Safe Mode, go to: File > Options > Add-ins > disable all add-ins, then restart

3> Repair Office: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/repair-an-office-application-7821d4b6-7c1d-4205-aa0e-a6b40c5bb88b

Hope this info helpful and let me know your details and test results.

    Hi,

When did the issue start, and what changes were made to your computer before the issue began? Also, are you using a Mac or a Windows PC?

Can you open other Office apps normally, such as Word or Excel?

If yes, open Word and go to File > Account.

Sign out of your Microsoft account.

    Restart your computer.

Sign back in to your account and check if the issue is resolved.

If the issue persists, go to Control Panel > Programs and Features > Microsoft 365/Office > Right-click > Change, then run Quick Repair first. If the issue continues, run Online Repair.

If the same behavior occurs, go to:

    https://account.microsoft.com/services

Can you confirm whether your license or subscription appears there and is listed as Active?
