Phone Link and Link to Windows provide a supported way to connect a Samsung device and a Windows PC for photo access and file transfer, instead of relying on legacy “Add a device” over Bluetooth.
To transfer photos using Phone Link / Link to Windows:
- On the Samsung S24, open Link to Windows (preinstalled on supported Samsung devices).
- Ensure the app is updated to the latest version.
- Sign in with the same Microsoft account that is used on the Windows 8 PC.
- On the PC, open Phone Link.
- In Phone Link, go to Settings > Devices and select Add new device, then follow the on‑screen pairing steps.
- Once connected, in Phone Link go to Settings > Features > Photos and turn on Allow this app to show photos from my phone to view and access photos from the phone on the PC.
If Phone Link previously worked and the devices no longer connect, unlink and reconnect:
On the Samsung phone:
- Open Link to Windows.
- Tap the Microsoft account under Linked account.
- Go to Account Settings > Sign out and unlink account and confirm Unlink.
On the PC:
- Open Phone Link.
- Go to Settings > Devices and select Add new device.
- Follow the pairing steps again.
- If the issue persists, restart Phone Link on the PC and retry.
Once Phone Link is working, photos can be accessed directly from the phone without needing Windows to recognize the device as a traditional USB or Bluetooth “Add a device” camera.
