Hi Egg Lady,
I can understand how this is confusing, especially since it sounds like the connection was working before and now it suddenly isn’t. Just to make sure we are on the same page, could you clarify a few things first for me?
- Did this Samsung S24 previously work, or is it a new device?
- If it worked before, has its system updated recently (e.g. OneUI 8.5)?
- When you said “no longer recognizes,” were you connecting it to the PC:
- Wirelessly (via Bluetooth)?
- With a USB cable?
- If you only connected with Bluetooth, can you try using cable once to test?
Before getting further, I also need to note that Windows 8 is no longer supported. Due to that, it may run into compatibility issues with newer operating systems. While waiting for your answers, here are a few quick things you can try:
- Remove any old phone entries:
- Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers
- Right-click your phone (if listed) > Remove device.
- Turn off Bluetooth on both, restart the PC and phone, then try again.
- Make sure Bluetooth is turned on and the phone is visible/discoverable.
- If you were using USB before:
- Try another cable, if possible.
- Turn ON File Transfer (MTP).
Depending on your answers, we can narrow it down further. Also, since Windows 8 is out of support, it can't be officially tested or confirmed. I’ll try to share the best guidance I can but expect that some suggestions may not fully match with your environment.
