I do not know how to get this . But my computer keeps asking for this number. The computer locks on blue site that ask for this number. I am old I do not know what this is or how to fix this problem???

I am locked out of my Microsoft account after the last Windows 11 update. It has been a couple of weeks now. It has made things very difficult for me because I needed information on my computer (not the one I am using to send this info) to do my 2025 income taxes. I had requested an extension but that time will be up in Oct. I have my Bitlocker information but can't get into the computer I am locked out of to put that information in. I have tried to contact Microsoft but get no response.

After the last Microsoft update, when I booted up my computer I could only bring up a screen that said, Something went wrong, your PIN is not available to you. Reset your pin or use another way to log in. I was given a chance to use a password but the account would not accept any password I put in. I tried to use any of the passwords I used to have for my account but then I was locked out of using a password as one of my options. I still had the option to use the QR option, but when I used it, it also didn't work. The next time I logged in, there was only one options, the password. I believe I have been Locked out by Microsoft, perhaps because I used too many password possibilities but am not able to talk to anyone at Microsoft to get this straightened out. It seems to me like they think I am a fraudster, but I am 75 years old, have no criminal record, have been in the excellent credit rating for over 40 years. I am not very computer savvy and I can only guess something has caused Microsoft to do this because they have misinformation or suspicions about me. Does anyone have any idea how to help me? I have my BitLocker info but can't get into that computer to try to use it. I am using an old computer that I replaced a year or two ago which has a different PIN number so the two computers are not connected. I purposely used a different PIN when I set up the new computer, just in case something like this happened and thank God, I did. I am aware of Safe Harbor Laws designed to keep Senior Citizens from being scammed, but no one has tried to scam me. I have given no one a large amount of money, other than I did pay off a little over 10K when my grandson graduated from college last year.

Any advice would be appreciated

You can visit the page or aka.ms/recoverykey on another device then sign-in with your account to view BitLocker recovery key then enter it to your computer. Please kindly check for BitLocker recovery key on all accounts that you have.

If you forget your BitLocker password and cannot find BitLocker recovery key, then no one even Microsoft can unlock your drive or restore BitLocker keys. It's how BitLocker was designed to protect your data.

Do you mean the Bitlocker Recovery Key?

Usually, the BitLocker recovery key is stored in the Microsoft account used to set up your computer. You can log in using the link below to check if it is available:

https://account.microsoft.com/devices/recoverykey

Just in case there's a work or school account linked to your device, it may have been set up using that account
