A Microsoft app for iOS and Android devices that enables authentication with two-factor verification, phone sign-in, and code generation
Check the following on the iPhone 15 to get Microsoft Authenticator notifications so the two-digit code prompt can be approved:
- Make sure the Authenticator app is unlocked
- Open Microsoft Authenticator on the iPhone.
- If it asks for Face ID/Touch ID or a PIN, complete that so the app is fully open. If the app is locked, the approval box may not appear.
- Enable notifications for Authenticator
- On the iPhone, go to Settings → Notifications → Authenticator.
- Turn on Allow Notifications and enable Lock Screen, Notification Center, and Banners.
- Ensure Sounds and/or Badges are enabled so prompts are noticeable.
- Check for silent or blocked notifications
- Make sure Do Not Disturb / Focus modes are off or configured to allow Authenticator notifications.
- Confirm other apps can receive notifications; if none can, there may be a broader notification or network issue.
- Verify network connectivity
- Ensure the iPhone has internet access (Wi‑Fi or mobile data).
- If prompts still don’t appear, switch between Wi‑Fi and mobile data and try signing in again.
- Update Microsoft Authenticator
- Open the App Store and confirm Microsoft Authenticator is updated to the latest version. Outdated versions can cause sign-in issues.
- Check device date and time
- Go to Settings → General → Date & Time.
- Turn on Set Automatically so the time is correct; incorrect time can cause authentication failures.
- Use an alternate verification method if available
- On the sign-in screen, choose Sign in another way (or similar) and select text message, phone call, or code from the app if those methods are configured.
- For code-based sign-in, open Authenticator, tap the account, and enter the code shown into the Enter code box on the sign-in page.
If none of these steps restore the notification, use the Sign-in helper or Contact Support options from Microsoft’s account help pages to get further assistance, as support agents cannot send verification codes or change security info directly.
