Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
To share a Microsoft 365 Family subscription with a family member, the subscription owner must invite them and have them join the family group.
Steps:
- Go to the Microsoft 365 subscription sharing page: https://account.microsoft.com/services/office/sharing and sign in with the account that owns the Microsoft 365 Family subscription.
- On the Sharing tab, select Start sharing or Share.
- Choose how to invite the family member:
- Email invite: Enter their email address and select Invite. They will receive an email with a Get started link.
- Create link: Select Create link, then Copy link, and send it via email, text, or other messaging app.
- The family member must:
- Click Get started in the email or open the shared link.
- Sign in with their Microsoft account (or create one if prompted).
- Select Join now to join the subscription owner’s family group.
- After they join, they can go to their Microsoft account dashboard and select the option to install Microsoft 365 and access their OneDrive storage.
Notes:
- Microsoft 365 Family can be shared with up to five other people (six total including the owner).
- Sharing is only available for Microsoft 365 Family or Microsoft 365 Premium; it is not available for Microsoft 365 Basic or Personal.
- AI features like Copilot and extended storage options remain available only to the subscription owner and are not shared.
