Viewing files across multi folders from Level 0 to Level 5

I have documents stored in multiple subfolders under L5. On SharePoint, how can I set up a view to see all documents grouped by Category across those folders?

I mean a SharePoint library view for L5 that flattens all subfolders and groups every document by the Category column, so I can see all categories across folders at once.

Hi @GAdepoju ,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, you have a document library with multiple folders and 5 levels, and you would like to flatten these folders while grouping the documents by a category column.

If I misunderstood your requirements or if you would like to clarify any additional details, please feel free to share them with me.

In this case, you can follow the steps below:

Step 1: Go to your Document Library > click Settings > Library Settings.

Step 2: Click More Library Settings.

Configure the library view to ignore folders and group by the Category column:

  1. In the L5 document library, open View options and choose Create new view or Edit current view.
  2. In the view settings, scroll to the Folders section and select Show all items without folders. This flattens the hierarchy so all documents from Level 0–Level 5 subfolders appear in a single list.
  3. Scroll to the Group By section.
    • Under First group by the column, select the Category column.
    • Choose Show groups in ascending order or Show groups in descending order as needed.
    • Leave Then group by the column empty (or configure a second grouping if desired).
  4. Optionally, in Item Limit, increase Number of items to display so the view can show all documents at once.
  5. Select OK to save the view.

The resulting view will display all documents from all subfolders in L5, flattened (no folders), and grouped by the Category column so all categories across folders are visible together.
