Hi

I understand you are having a problem with a new Microsoft account opening the Microsoft Learn / Skills Fest page in Japanese instead of English. I am happy to help. Please reply with the following details:

  • Is the Skills Fest page opening in Microsoft Edge, Chrome, or another browser?
  • Is the account a personal Microsoft account or a work/school Microsoft 365 account?

Please try the following steps if your account is personal:

  • As a quick test, change the page URL to English

If the page address contains a locale such as /ja-jp/, replace it with /en-us/ and then reload the page.

  • Check the browser language first

Pages can appear in the wrong language based on your browser language settings, see: Check or change language settings - Microsoft Support

  • If you are using Microsoft Edge, move English to the top and set Edge to display in English
    • Open Settings and more > Settings > Languages
    • Add English if needed
    • Select the three dots next to English
    • Choose Display Microsoft Edge in this language
    • Move English to the top of the preferred languages list
    • Restart Edge
  • Review your Microsoft account language settings as well

Some account language settings roam across the Microsoft experience, which can affect how Microsoft websites appear. See: Check or change language settings - Microsoft Support

Please tell me how it goes. If the problem persists, please don’t hesitate to reply to this thread and I will be happy to help. Have a lovely day!

Change the language for the Microsoft account and browser so the site shows English instead of Japanese.

    1. Check Microsoft account language
      1. Go to the Microsoft account profile language page: https://account.microsoft.com/profile.
      2. Sign in with the same account used for the Skills Fest.
      3. In the profile settings, change the display language to English (United States) or another preferred English option.
      4. Save the change and sign out/in again.
    2. Check Windows display language (if using Windows)
      1. Open Settings → Time & language → Language & region.
      2. Under Windows display language, select English.
      3. Ensure the Country or region is set to a region that uses English.
    3. Check browser language (for Microsoft Edge)
      1. Open Edge settings.
      2. Go to Languages.
      3. Move English to the top of the list and remove Japanese if not needed.
    4. Refresh the Learn/Skills Fest page or sign out and sign back in. The interface should now appear in English.
