I can no longer hotsync my Palm Pilot because the driver is rejected by security.

The driver is being blocked by modern Windows security features, which treat it as incompatible or vulnerable.

To restore Palm Pilot hotsync functionality, there are only two supported options in the provided material:

    1. Try to obtain an updated driver
      • Check Windows Update and the Palm device (or cable/adapter) manufacturer’s site for a newer, Windows 10/11–compatible driver.
      • If the driver is listed in the Windows Driver Protection database (Device Manager shows Code 48: “The software for this device has been blocked from starting because it is known to have problems with Windows”), the only supported resolution is to get a new driver from the hardware vendor.
    2. Disable Memory Integrity / Core isolation (security trade‑off)
      • If Windows Security reports “A driver can’t load on this device” and mentions Memory Integrity, then this feature is preventing the Palm driver from loading.
      • To allow the driver:
        1. Open the Core isolation page in Windows Security (for example, via Start > Settings >
          • Windows 11: Privacy & security > Windows Security > Device Security > Core isolation details
          • Windows 10: Update & Security > Windows Security > Device Security > Core isolation details
        2. Turn Memory Integrity to Off.
        3. Restart the PC and reinstall or re‑enable the Palm driver.
      • This reduces protection: on secured‑core PCs, turning off Memory Integrity takes the device out of a secured‑core state, and the blocked driver is known to have a vulnerability.

If no updated Palm driver exists and Memory Integrity remains enabled, Windows will continue to block the driver and hotsync will not work.
