Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
To correct a Microsoft 365 subscription that was billed to the wrong payment method, update the payment option on the Microsoft account used for the subscription.
For a consumer/home subscription (including OneDrive/Microsoft 365):
- Go to the Microsoft account Services & subscriptions page via either:
- OneDrive/Manage Storage path:
- Go to Manage Storage on the OneDrive website: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkID=257521
- Select Manage next to the storage or Microsoft 365 plan to open the Microsoft account site.
- Or directly: https://account.microsoft.com/services (if already known/bookmarked).
- OneDrive/Manage Storage path:
- In Services & subscriptions, locate the Microsoft 365/OneDrive subscription.
- Select Change how you pay (or similar payment option link) for that subscription.
- Choose another existing payment method or select Add a new way to pay and add the correct card/bank.
- Save the changes so future renewals charge the correct payment form.
If the wrong payment method was used for a past charge and a refund or adjustment is needed, use the billing support options:
- Investigate the charge and confirm which subscription/account it belongs to using the guidance in How to investigate a billing charge from Microsoft.
- If a refund is appropriate, follow How to get a refund on a Microsoft subscription.
- If the issue cannot be resolved online, contact Microsoft Support (Billing) from the support site and provide details of the incorrect charge and the correct payment method.
For accessibility users, the same changes can be made using a screen reader:
- Navigate to Payment options in the Microsoft account site.
- Use Add a new payment method to add the correct card and fill in details.
- Go to Service & subscriptions, select the subscription, and use the manage options to adjust how it is paid.
Note: If the subscription was purchased through a third party (retailer or partner), payment method changes may need to be done with that third party rather than directly in the Microsoft account.
