How to merge an outlook email with existing Microsoft 365 account

I have a Microsoft 365 subscription registered to a Gmail account. I also have a separate outlook.com that is not associated with my subscription. Can I link my outlook to the existing Microsoft 365 that I'm paying for?

The outlook.com address and the Gmail-based Microsoft account cannot be merged into a single Microsoft account, and subscriptions, purchases, or data cannot be transferred between them.

    Available options:

    1. Keep using the Gmail-based Microsoft account as the subscription owner
      • The Microsoft 365 subscription remains tied to the Microsoft account that uses the Gmail sign-in.
      • The outlook.com mailbox can still be used separately and added into Outlook alongside the Gmail-based account. See Add an email account to Outlook for Windows for adding multiple accounts.
    2. Use account aliases (limited workaround)
      • It is not possible to link, merge, or combine Microsoft personal accounts.
      • The farthest supported scenario is:
        • Close the Microsoft account that currently owns one address, then add that email address as an alias on the other Microsoft account, if it is not already in use and is eligible.
        • Even in that case, data and purchases from the closed account do not move; only the sign-in email changes.
    3. Share the subscription instead of merging
      • If the subscription is Microsoft 365 Family, it can be shared with another Microsoft account (for example, the outlook.com account) so that both accounts receive premium benefits, but the accounts remain separate.

Because Microsoft does not support combining personal accounts, the existing Microsoft 365 subscription must stay on the Gmail-based Microsoft account; the outlook.com account cannot be “moved into” or fully merged with it.
