Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
To cancel Microsoft 365 and request a refund, cancellation must be done from the Microsoft account that was used to purchase the subscription.
Follow these steps to cancel first (required before checking refund eligibility):
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services/microsoft365.
- Sign in with the same Microsoft account that was used to buy the Microsoft 365 Family subscription.
- Find the Microsoft 365 subscription and select Manage.
- If instead of Manage there is Turn on recurring billing, the subscription is already set to expire on the date shown and no further charges will occur.
- On the next page, select Cancel (or Upgrade or Cancel, depending on what is shown).
- Review the information on the page and confirm cancellation by choosing I don't want my subscription.
After cancellation, check refund eligibility:
- For Microsoft 365 Basic, Personal, Family, or Premium purchased from Microsoft, refund eligibility is checked after cancellation.
- Go to the refund help flow: Check eligibility or use the self-help tool from the refund article to be guided through requesting a refund.
- Note that not all cancellations result in a refund, and eligibility can depend on region and timing. In some countries (such as Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Israel, Korea, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, and Turkey), a prorated refund may be available after cancellation. Learn more.
If sign-in is not possible because the account or credentials are unknown, Microsoft cannot cancel or access the subscription for security reasons. In that case, cancellation must be handled through the payment provider (for example, by stopping the recurring payment via the bank or card issuer).
If the subscription was purchased through a third party (such as Google Play, Apple App Store, Amazon, or another retailer), cancellation and refund must be requested directly from that retailer, as Microsoft cannot cancel or refund subscriptions purchased through third parties.
For additional help, use Microsoft’s guided support for subscription and billing issues via the Contact Microsoft Support option described in the cancellation and refund articles.
