An integrated threat protection solution designed to detect, investigate, and respond to cyber threats across Microsoft 365 services.
Microsoft Defender on iOS uses a local VPN to provide web protection. Some apps stop working when they detect any active VPN. To fix this, temporarily disable the Defender VPN on the iPhone 17 Pro devices.
Follow these steps on each iPhone:
- Open the Settings app.
- Go to General > VPN.
- Find the entry for Microsoft Defender or Defender for Endpoint.
- Tap the i button next to it.
- Turn off Connect On Demand.
This disables the Defender VPN and allows apps that block VPNs to work. Be aware that web protection is not available while the VPN is disabled. To turn protection back on later, open the Microsoft Defender app and re-enable web protection or start the VPN from within the app.
If specific apps only fail when Defender VPN is on, use this toggle only while using those apps, then turn it back on to restore protection.
