Audio intermittently cutting out on teams on multiple MacBook Pros in the team.

Hi there,

My team and I are experiencing audio intermittently cutting out on every meeting on our MacBook Pros.
This includes ones using the device microphone as well as bluetooth devices.
I checked the Mac permissions as well as changed noise suppression on the settings and checking for updates but nothings changed.

Any advice?

Thanks

For intermittent audio cut‑outs on multiple MacBook Pros using Teams, focus on macOS audio services and Teams device settings.

    1. Restart macOS audio service (fixes many Mac + Teams glitches)
      • If users have admin rights:
        1. Open Terminal on each Mac.
        2. Run:
                  sudo killall coreaudiod

        3. Enter the admin password.
        4. coreaudiod restarts automatically; then rejoin a Teams meeting and test.
      • If users do not have admin rights:
        • Restart the Mac from Apple menu > Restart, then test Teams again.
    2. Verify Teams audio device selection per user In the Teams desktop app on macOS for each affected Mac:
      1. Go to Settings and more (…) > Settings > Devices.
      2. Under Audio > Audio settings:
        • Confirm the correct Speaker (built‑in output or Bluetooth device) is selected.
        • Confirm the correct Microphone (built‑in mic or Bluetooth device) is selected.
        • Turn Automatically adjust mic sensitivity on to keep levels stable.
      3. Select Make a test call and check whether audio still cuts out.
    3. Check macOS microphone permissions (already checked, but re‑apply to refresh) On each Mac:
      1. Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Microphone.
      2. Ensure Microsoft Teams is checked.
      3. If already checked, uncheck it, re‑check it, then quit and reopen Teams and test again.
    4. Confirm basic sound path on macOS On each Mac, outside Teams:
      1. Go to Apple menu > System Preferences > Sound.
      2. On Input tab: select the correct input device and speak; verify the Input level meter moves.
      3. On Output tab: select the correct output device; make sure Mute is off and volume is not too low.
      4. If the input/output meters drop or freeze system‑wide, restart coreaudiod as in step 1.
    5. Test with and without Bluetooth
      • In Teams Devices settings, switch between:
        • Built‑in Computer audio (MacBook speakers + mic).
        • Bluetooth headset.
      • If cut‑outs only occur on Bluetooth, re‑pair the headset in macOS and retest; if they occur on both, it points more strongly to coreaudiod or system audio rather than the devices.

If the issue persists across all these steps on multiple Macs, collect details (Teams version, macOS version, whether it happens in other apps like FaceTime/Zoom) and escalate through your Microsoft 365 support channel.
