Locked out of third-party account due to broken Authenticator (No cloud backup)

There is no technical way for Microsoft Support to remotely recover or extract specific third‑party 2FA (TOTP) accounts from Microsoft Authenticator if cloud backup was not enabled on the original device. For third‑party accounts such as Rockstar Games that use one‑time password codes, Authenticator stores the shared secret only on the device and, when backup is enabled, in the user’s cloud backup. If backup was never turned on and the original phone is unusable, those secrets are not available to Microsoft and cannot be reconstructed or restored.
2. Microsoft cannot disable or bypass 2FA on a third‑party website like Rockstar Games. Microsoft Authenticator is only the client that generates codes or handles approvals. Control over whether 2FA is required, disabled, or reset for a specific service (such as Rockstar Games Social Club) belongs entirely to that service’s support and account‑recovery processes. Microsoft has no ability to turn off or override 2FA on external sites.

In this situation, the only path to regain access to the Rockstar account is through Rockstar’s own account‑recovery or support procedures (for example, proving ownership and asking them to remove or reset the existing 2FA configuration), since neither the lost Authenticator secrets nor the 2FA policy on their service can be changed by Microsoft.
