Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
To move to a less expensive Microsoft 365 option and avoid paying the current full price again, follow these steps:
- Sign in to the Microsoft account used for the subscription at the Services & subscriptions page: https://account.microsoft.com/services.
- Locate the current Microsoft 365 subscription and select Manage.
- Review the subscription details and billing status to confirm what plan is active and when it renews.
- If the goal is to switch to a Microsoft 365 subscription with fewer features (and lower cost), cancel the existing subscription and then purchase another subscription that better fits the needs:
- On the Manage page, select Cancel subscription.
- On the Cancel page, review the options and select a plan with fewer features that matches the budget.
- Follow the prompts to complete the switch. The current subscription will continue until it expires, and then it will automatically change to the new, lower-cost plan. Charges for the new plan begin at that renewal.
If the subscription was purchased through a third-party billing partner (such as Apple App Store, Google Play, or a retail partner), subscription management (including cancelling, renewing, changing payment method, or switching plans) must be done through that partner. In that case, go to https://account.microsoft.com/services, select Manage for the subscription, and follow the link to the third-party’s site for further options.
If there are concerns about being overcharged or needing a refund (for example, after an unwanted upgrade), contact Microsoft Billing Support so an agent can review the account and discuss options.
