Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
To update the phone number on a Microsoft 365/Office account, change the phone number on the underlying Microsoft account or, if an admin account, in the Microsoft 365 admin center.
For a personal Microsoft account (used for Microsoft 365/Office subscription):
- Go to Manage how you sign in to Microsoft at https://account.live.com/names/manage and sign in.
- Choose Add phone number.
- Follow the prompts to verify the new phone number.
- After verification, select Make primary if this should be the main number.
- Optionally select Remove next to the old phone number to delete it.
Alternatively:
- Sign in to the Microsoft account profile at https://account.live.com/names/manage.
- Under Your info, choose Add phone number or select Remove next to the old number and then add the new one.
For a Microsoft 365 admin updating their own contact phone number (business subscription):
- Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?linkid=2024339) and sign in.
- Go to Users > Active users.
- Select the admin account.
- Under Contact information, select Manage contact information.
- Update the phone number and select Save changes.
If the phone number is already associated with another Microsoft account and needs to be moved:
- When the message "[phone number] is already a Microsoft account" appears, select Sign up or Transfer number (if shown) and follow the prompts to move it from the old account to the new one.
- If the Transfer number option does not appear, select Change number and either use a different number or try again after 30 days.
