A Microsoft app for iOS and Android devices that enables authentication with two-factor verification, phone sign-in, and code generation
To update security contact info when both the phone and email are no longer accessible, use the account recovery and backup security-info flows.
- Start from the sign-in page for the Microsoft account and enter the username.
- When prompted for a verification code and none of the listed methods are accessible, select I don't have any of these.
- Follow the prompts to recover the account. This process will ask for additional information to verify identity (for example, other details about the account). Complete as much as possible.
- Once access is restored, immediately update security contact info:
- Go to the Security basics page at https://account.microsoft.com/security and sign in.
- Select Advanced security options > Get started.
- Add a new email address or another way to sign in or verify. A security code will be sent to the new method; enter it to confirm.
- Remove the old, inaccessible phone/email by selecting the verification option and choosing Remove.
If verification codes are not arriving and there is still no access to existing methods, again choose I don't have any of these during sign-in and follow the guided prompts to update backup security info.
Avoid changing all security info at once in the future, as this can cause the account to be restricted for a period of time.
